The patient may experience a slight sunburned feeling to the treated area(s) for a couple of hours after the procedure. Apply a cool compress to the affected area(s) for no more than 20 minutes each hour and continue for up to 4 hours after treatment if needed.
The patient may develop a fine crust over the treated area over the next few days. Keep the area clean by gently washing twice a day with a mild cleanser followed by a small application of sunscreen a minium of a 30 spf (these products are available for purchase at the office). Do not use glycolic or Retin A products over the treated area for one week after treatment. If make-up is desired, apply a thin coat of sunscreen before the makeup. Do not use deodorant on underarm areas until the area is healed.
During the course of treatments, the hair will be singed but will continue to grow as the hair follicle expells the unwanted hair. This process may take multiple treatments. The patient should not tweeze or wax in between treatments. However, the area may be shaved.
