People who can benefit from corrective jaw surgery include those with an improper bite or jaws that are positioned incorrectly. Jaw growth is a gradual process and in some instances, the upper and lower jaws may grow at different rates.
A certain amount of bleeding is to be expected following your surgery. Slight bleeding, oozing, or redness in the saliva is not uncommon. Excessive bleeding may be controlled by placing a gauze pad over the area and biting firmly for 1 hour. Repeat if necessary.
After the placement of dental implants do not disturb the wound. Avoid rinsing, spitting or touching the wound on the day of surgery. There may be a metal healing abutment protruding through the gingival (gum) tissue. Some bleeding or redness in the saliva is normal for 24 hours.
