Why a Cone Beam CT before your implant?
Dental implants are the best way we have to replace missing teeth. Implants are placed within the jawbone of the upper or lower jaw and require bone for placement.
The dental cone beam CT, which is a specialized CT using significantly less radiation then traditional medical CT, provides valuable information regarding Bone prior to placement of the implant. The CT is also used to Plan the exact placement of the implant prior to surgery. The surgery is completed on a computer with a special software program that allows for planning and placement . Following the computer surgery, the lab will then fabricate a surgical guide that will be used to place the implant.
The CT and surgical guide take the guesswork out of placing an implant and make it more predictable. This translates to better success with integration and function of implants. The dental cone beam CT is performed in the office and takes approximately 30 seconds to complete.
Before you have your next tooth replacement with a dental implant, make sure to ask, “Do I need a cone beam CT prior?”
